Awareness in equal opportunities and diversity

INTRODUCTION

This introductory workshop is aimed at clerks and managers with responsibility for the implementation and maintenance of organizational policies on equality and diversity. This workshop is based on practical exercises designed to raise awareness and offer approaches to diversity issues in all aspects of the business.

 

OBJECTIVES

To give delegates a clear understanding of the business benefits of EO/Diversity

• To enable delegates to implement practical policies on EO

• Raise awareness of the regulatory and legislative framework

Introduction to EO and Diversity

• Perceptions and impact of behaviour

• Stereotypes and cross-cultural communication

• EO drivers

• Meeting EO requirements on recruitment and treatment of staff, provision of services and dealing with third parties

• Brief overview of legislation – the Equality Act 2010

• Reviewing your Equality and Diversity policy

• Action Planning

 

OUTCOMES

At the end of this course participants should:

• Have gained a clearer understanding of the key EO drivers

• Have a practical framework for implementing an effective EO Policy

• Be able to devise an action plan to introduce improvements to your approach to Equality and Diversity
