COLP and COFA duties

Peter offers advice to a number of firms where he supports the COLP and COFA function by advising on best practice to meet SRA requirements.  Peter’s support ranges from regular visits of 1-2 days per month to occasional compliance reviews.  Increasingly Peter is regarded as a key member of the compliance function and is available for one-off questions ranging from SRA enquiries, reporting breaches, client due diligence, conflicts and confidentiality to client care and complaints handling.


Risk Management


Over the last 20 years Peter has given consultancy advice and training to a range of firms through both public and in-house courses. During a 12 month period with an eminent insurer Peter was their Risk Manager and worked closely with the Risk Partners/Risk Directors of a small group of medium – large insured firms in advising on liability and risk issues. Peter assisted in developing firms’ risk policies and in the provision of training support. Peter devised and delivered bespoke risk management training workshops over 12 days for a Top 50 firm for all its partners and fee earners. Peter also developed a series of intensive workshops for approximately 120 solicitors of a Top 10 firm that entailed close working with the Risk Partner on the firm’s risk procedures.

Peter has assisted firms in many ways to satisfy insurer and broker queries.  These have included:

Peter has more than 20 years experience of giving a broad range of business and practice management advice to firms from the formulation of policies and systems for the effective management of the practice to strategic advice and business planning facilitation

Peter has been involved in assisting and facilitating partner discussions and ‘away days’ on critical business decisions and longer term plans.

Marketing and Client Surveys

Warner Consulting has been engaged by firms in ascertaining client feedback and reviews of service provision through carefully devised surveys that involve targeted engagement with key client contacts to gauge satisfaction with service provision.  These surveys are tailored to client needs and requirements and delivered speedily and cost-effectively through our insights and knowledge of the sector.

Quality Assurance


Peter has considerable experience of introducing quality initiatives such as Lexcel, CQS, Investors in People and ISO9000 standards to firms ranging from 5 to 90 partners.

Assisted more than 30 practices achieve Lexcel certification and/or Investors in People recognition.

Peter has trained more than 100 firms in Lexcel through seminars and workshops.
